Cities with no trendy, hip, or "cool" suburbs/bordering cities. Cities without? (chapel, restaurants)

I guess New Orleans doesn't have any "trendy" suburbs compared to the city itself, though Covington is upscale and pleasant and there's small town charm in Ponchatoula and Madisonville.
For Baton Rouge I also can't think of any, though there are lots of very pleasant suburbs. Denham Springs can be considered cool for its antique district, one of the largest in the South.
And yes NYC doesn't really have any cool suburbs. Long Island and Westchester are wealthy but staid. Most of NJ is just trashy, depressing and crime-ridden.

Some that come to mind are Nyack in Rockland County; the Rivertowns of Westchester County; Montclair, Maplewood, South Orange and Hoboken in NJ.

Lol wut? I'm not saying they're all "trendy," but to say NJ is mostly trashy, depressing and crime-ridden is extremely ignorant when some of the wealthiest cities in the country are here. There are parts that are rundown and people would not voluntarily move to like Paterson, Passaic, East Orange, Newark (outside the Ironbound and Downtown), Elizabeth, and just a few others.
Ehhh.. lol many of these are not suburbs or adjacent cities.
Agreed! For Miami, Miami Beach is a separate place, but Brickell isn't. Instead of Brickell, they could have said Coral Gables, Miami Shores, Surfside, etc.

Yeah, that comment is a.....reach. I actually do agree that NYC doesn't really have any suburbs that really fit the profile here (it's hard for me to classify Jersey City & Hoboken as sububs, even though they technically are. And while I love Hoboken, it is most definitely not hip.) Some people only judge NJ by their drive up the Turnpike and the trash-pit reality shows that are filmed here.
But, I think that NYC area does "nice suburbs" better than anywhere else, and that includes NJ. Just don't expect trendy dining spots and raucous nightlife. Maybe Montclair for dining / cool factor, but that's about it.

Yeah Hoboken is definitely not "cool" unless that definition has changed to vegan yoga girls and overage frat bros, both of whom party like they're still 19 in college totally un-ironically. Obviously just a stereotype and that's not everyone there, but either Hoboken is not "hip." JC is more so, and they're both bordering cities not suburbs.
I see that poster's location is "The Heart of Dixie" so I could equally assume the same about the South if I had never been in the actual cities. "The South is all Bible-thumping anti-choice Jesus freaks who ride tractors and live in rundown shacks or mobile homes and only eat at Cracker Barrel and McDonald's because that's my view while driving on country roads through the South and never getting off to explore the cities. I also watched Party Down South so that's added to my knowledge of Southern people and lifestyles."

Eh. Denver is like that and everyone thinks it's cool.
