Lake Keowee, Jocasse, and Hartwell in SC, and various other man made lakes in the Blue Ridge area are good enough for me. I like them better than two natural lakes that I'm aware of in Florida and Louisiana.

I don't think I could tell the difference between a man made lake and a natural one.

I worked in West Point, GA for a few years but lived in Alabama. The GA-AL state line is a few hundred yards from the dam at West Point lake. It is a large and attractive lake, but I would not recommend it to live on. It is downstream on the Chattahoochie River from the Atlanta metro area sewage treatment (including lack of such). The water quality is not so pristine, and the summer water temp is extremely warm with plenty of algae growth.

I agree with an earlier suggestion of Lake Keowee, SC. Pure, clean water direct from mountains with almost no inflows from cities or towns. Yes, there is a nuke power plant on the lakeshore. I don't know if that plant has any safety issues, but there have been no radiation leaks into the lake as far as I know.
