I still thought they were rare, but I guess they've really opened a lot of stores in the past few years.

I just looked and there are now 9 Apple stores around the Chicago area.

I guess it all depends on what you mean by “arrived” but Ace Hotels are pretty rare.

I believe there is only nine of them with two more opening in 2020

Currently Open:
Chicago
NYC
Seattle
Palm Springs
Shoreditch (London)
LA
Pittsburgh
Portland
New Orleans

Opening 2020:
Toronto
Kyoto

Just like the poster that wanted to add a restaurant that was only in Sacramento and Las Vegas to the likes of Whole Foods and Apple, a hotel chain with 9 locations in the US shouldn’t really count either. Have Pittsburgh and Portland “arrived”, while San Francisco and Miami haven’t?

I think it’s safe to say all major metros in the US have “arrived” in one way or another. I took this thread for more of the small/mid size metros getting nationally recognized companies, and not picking those that probably most of us haven’t even heard of, and/or are only in a select few cities? Not only that, but like with your example, much more recognizable world cities are often not amongst the select few. At least that’s how I see it?

I do think your example of Ace Hotels would be a good one if there was a thread about “what companies that are only in a few locations nationwide/worldwide are also in your city”. It’s in some of the most recognizable cities in the world, and few most outside the US know nothing about.

Like I said, it depends on what you mean by arrived. It means different things to different people. To those of us who like the brand, having it means it has arrived. Having another steakhouse that random people recognize doesn’t signify arriving to some people. The steakhouse has just run out of other markets, while small brands showing up in cities means there is something there that drew a selective company to that location. Same with Schoolhouse Electric.

I do now see the title says “big brand chains” so my examples probably don’t fit the thread exactly, as they are more boutique brands in selective locations.

They are similar to Hard Rock Cafes, but a Rainforest theme right? Never been to one.

Yeah, good ones. I'm always so surprised anyone would pay so much money for a vehicle (Tesla). I suppose if you have money to toss or collect those things LOL.
