What's the most Italian-based locations around the US (it being mainly Germanic/British-based on the whole)? In other words, the parts with more Latin (but NOT Latino/Hispanic) influences?
Highest population of Italian-Americans has little to do with visibility or influence of Italian culture. NYC ranks #1 but Little Italy is basically one street of tourist traps and Arthur Avenue in the Bronx similarly sized although much less touristy. Cities like St Louis and Cleveland have Italian neighborhoods as well preserved or better that exceed in size what NYC has, at a fraction of the population.
Id say RI, NNJ and some areas of MA/CT are pretty Italian stilll.
The North End in Boston is the ost impressive, 'Little Italy' agglomeration of Italian Restaurants, Culture and Pride in North America right now. That ultimately wins it on a district level. On a larger scale, right around Providence and some parts of Staten Island/Northern New Jersey are still very Italian.
