If you were making a list of the globe's top 100 most influential cities, I think the USA would have at least 15 cities:

1. New York City
2. Los Angeles
3. Chicago
4. Washington, D.C.
5. San Francisco
6. Houston
7. Miami
8. Boston
9. Philadelphia
10. Dallas
11. Atlanta
12. Seattle
13. San Diego
14. Detroit
15. Phoenix

Notable runner-up: Minneapolis, Denver, Tampa, Baltimore, St. Louis.

I don't know anyone, who thinks of Houston, when they think of medical care. I have MDs in the family, and I would assume they know more, but I've never heard it spoken about.

This would likely be my list exactly. Might drop Miami down a peg or two though. Also, need to find a spot at bottom for Minneapolis.

Same here, but I'm in the Mid-Atlantic. Everyone has heard of Mayo Clinic.

Irrelevant. What’s popular and what’s influential are not always the same.

I don’t give a $hit. That’s not a requirement here.

If you really do have "MD's" in your family, ask them about the Texas Medical Center. It's the largest medical center in the world, including the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota and the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio. It's 3 miles south of downtown Houston but the TMC skyline looks like a city of 500,000.

Don't take my word for it. Google the Texas Medical Center.

Here's an article from Wikipedia.

Here's a link to pic of the TMC skyline with Downtown Houston in the background.
