Wondering where I'd quickly find some lists of cities w/these attributes, especially for small and mid-sized cities. Less than a million for sure.

I can check other things like diverse economy & crime later. Any links would be appreciated. Alternatively, if you know of cities that fit I'm all ears.

Big college towns would do if they are close to cities w/more employment. Only places I can think of that have at least more grad degree folks would be university areas or big cities and the bigger the city the more I'd not want to live there.

Thanks.

OK, Ann Arbor isn't real high COL overall. Thought is was worse. Housing sucks big time.

Was hoping to find a site or sites that would have lists I could compare and find some cities on both lists.

But thanks. I'll keep surfing...

This seems pretty simple. Find spots with really cold weather and multiple colleges. The colder the better.

Check Iowa, north Dakota, eastern Washington, Minnesota, Maine, etc.

There's plenty of cheap southeast college towns, but crime should be higher than the cold areas and there's the whole humidity thing.

Well why would colder temps correlate w/COL? Or are you surmising that crime would be lower? Because in winter the criminals are staying warm inside?

I'll post back if I find some good info.

Thanks.

Lansing-East Lansing MI, Syracuse NY, Albany NY, other Big 10, ACC and SEC towns.

I think this older list may help a bit: U.S. Master, Doctorate, or Professional Education Percentage Metro Area Rank Based on ACS 2010-2014 data

Just curious what you consider low COL. Compared to what? East or West Coast cities? Rural Deep South? Midwest or Souther suburbs?
