I think there may be a secondary connection but the Washington outbreak was from one facility and seems to be contained there. This virus is appearing to be especially hard on the elderly with underlying health issues.

I thought it was cuz of the cruise ships - and the Alaskan transport of travelers on them?

Yes. I was surprised from 20/20 that so many have already had the Covid-19 - never tested - they went thru it like any flu.
I mean 94% get over it ok.
Apparently, it is not mentioned often - how the attack on the lungs is the issue.

"Because most cases have been in China,
clinicians elsewhere may be unfamiliar with
how the virus appears in the lungs." found online

That’s a too simplistic question.

LA has the highest number of flights to and from Asia and has the closest economic ties to Asia of any US city. Yet, it’s cases are far fewer in number than Seattle whose ties to Asia and number of flights to Asia more closely resemble Washington DC or Houston.

A big reason in my opinion Seattle is hardest hit is because:

1) the probable presence of a super spreader
2) the climate this time of year in Seattle is much more conducive to virus spread.

Good point. Seattle's climate tends to keep people indoors more often than not in February-March. LA, most of the time is mild and pleasant in the same time frame. Sure, there are some cool and rainy days, but 80+ percent of the time, it is fine for outdoor activities in southern Cal.

Asia, especially China, is much less developed than we were led to believe.

The people of the world have been duped.

People in the high cost of living/affluent regions travel the globe and the globe travels to those places. Boston, New York, and DC all have nonstop flights to China. All it takes is one super-spreader and you have a Milan and 16 million people in quarantine.

Absolutely. Tell you what, we definitely need to have stronger borders as well as strict scrutiny for each and every one entering into our great Country from the coronavirus hot spots (China, Iran, Italy, etc.).
