Delaware, it's only about seven hours away, but I've never had a reason to go there.

I have visited all of my bordering States except Kentucky, though it would not even take a few hours to drive there. I would like to see all of those beautiful horses up close, at their Derby. As I recall, once upon a time, it was said about America, that the finest specimens of human beings in America, lived in Kentucky.

Friend and I went to Toledo OH for a concert in the fall of 2004; afterwards, we got lost looking for our hotel and briefly crossed the state line into Michigan. Other than that one experience, I have not been to MI, so that wins for me.

From Vermont, closest state I've never been to is Michigan. It's about 620 miles to Detroit. Google says going though Canada on the 401 through Ontario is the quickest way or add another 130 miles going through NY, PA, and OH. So I could add in Toronto on a road trip there which I also haven't explored. I've always wanted to see more of the Great Lakes and Michigan is where they are at their prime. Just never managed to get there, it's not one of those passing through states when driving cross country.

Oregon. It's the only one of the lower 48 I've yet to see.

Kansas. It's around 600 miles from my location north of Birmingham, AL to the SE corner of Kansas by way of Joplin, MO.
