Thought this would be an interesting and fun topic to share. Maybe true, maybe not? Anyone have a squatch experience in the area?
Apparently southern Virginia is a hotbed for Bigfoot sightings, with the Gum Hill area to the north of Bristol having its own squatch hiding amongst the hills.

The realist in me says they don’t exist or one would have been found by now (or definitive proof of one), but having seen something once while late night fishing near the MD / PA line has me doubting my own beliefs.
Was fishing with two cousins late one night under the lights along the catwalk of the Conowingo Dam in northern Maryland. It was 2 am and striper season was in full swing, and the fishing there was the best in the area so we all made a night of it.
After setting out our gear and catching a few, we noticed what we thought was a black bear below us eating something along the river bank, maybe a hundred fifty yards away along the outer edge of the lights of the dam.
While watching it we were approached by a game warden wanting to check our catch. Striped Bass (aka Rockfish) were in decline at the time due to overfishing, and the wardens were actively out checking and handing out violations to those ignoring the limits on them.
Got into talking with him when we all noticed that the “bear” below us was still there, but had moved down a bit. While we all watched it, it stood up, turned around then started to walk / leap with a long strides across the large VW sized boulders (maybe 15 of them) then off into the woods it went.
Was human like in stature and definitely over 7 feet tall and 300+ pounds, or what a typical BF sighting would be. The game warden was dumbfounded but not surprised as there had been a lot of sightings in the area. Needless to say we packed up shop and called it a night.
