Yeah. It's a tale of two contrasts.

Yeah, I saw some openings that I am qualified for in Worcester, but they're for right now.

Thanks for all of your advice!

I feel like the Northampton-Amherst area might be a good fit, though you're fairly remote relative to living inside of, say, 495. Long, long way from a bustling environment.

There was another thread regarding regional Northeast towns that balance an International crowd, arts, and education. Northampton and Amherst certainly do that well.. Surprising the levels of higher education attainment and International transplants in Amherst in particular. I suppose it's because of the colleges.

OP, if broader Massachusetts does become a consideration, I'd look in that belt. People that move there from Eastern Massachusetts never come back. Lower COL, good education, heavier focus on arts, environment, outdoors, healthy lifestyle. Not sure $1500 will get you very far, but would only assume teaching salaries start in the mid $70s, so that might change your budget.

Good to know. I was thinking bigger city=bigger job pool.

It's funny how $1500 in the Midwest is considered a tad overpriced while it's nothing on the East Coast. Heck, $1500 will get you some pretty nice digs in Beijing or Shanghai, too.
