Hello all, single male looking to escape the cold Indiana weather and find a new beginning. Looking at either Phoenix (or somewhere better in Arizona)or Vegas. I will be driving west in a couple of days to get a feel for both staying a few weeks or so. Not needing to find a job right away so I have time to take it all in. The covid is making it hard to really get to know the communities in person so I thought I would try this. Any insight would be greatly appreciated thanks to all!!

You might want to check out the quarantine requirements for people traveling into these states. Right now there are no restrictions but that could change. My state has a 14 day quarantine imposed on travelers from most states (with some exceptions). This link is supposed to be regularly updated.

The Las Vegas economy is going to crater before too long thanks to the pandemic, so I'm not sure it's the place to move to right now. Phoenix is definitely more diversified and less impacted, as is a city like Tucson. If you can swing the cost of living with the line of work you're in, San Diego would be a good option too. I would also recommend Albuquerque if looking for drier/warm weather most of the year.

There may be an exception or two, but that 14 day quarantine is mainly a tri-state thing (CT / NJ / NY).

If you're going to a politically red/purple state like Arizona or Nevada, chances are you're good from any quarantines.

BTW, I say this as someone who was just out in Texas (although I still reside in Georgia for a couple more weeks) over the past week.
