Hi everyone,

I have been searching for what will ultimately be my retirement house. Initially, I looked for a house in LI and have not found a town meeting my criteria. I would appreciate your help, if you could please recommend 3-4 towns within 1-2hrs train ride to GC. My criteria is: A very safe and walkable town (I do not drive) I will be taking the train to GC 2-3 times per week. I enjoy taking walks to the library, cafes and restaurants but the latter is not a deal-breaker, walkability to Supermarket, Pharmacy and the train is most important. I do not hike. My budget is $600-800K.

Thank you in advance for your recommendations.

Perhaps look at say Suffern, Cold Spring, Beacon and Brewster: https://new.mta.info/map/5351

Manhasset has a good library. The commute is pleasant to the city. Sidewalks are here and they will help you navigate through the town.

Hi again,

Thank you for suggesting: Suffern, Cold Spring, Beacon and Brewster. Of these, I will visit Cold Spring and Beacon because they seem walkable. Suffern is in NJ? Sorry, I don't know the area, but when I searched, I couldn't find Suffern in Westchester. Brewster seems too quiet and the houses are far far away from supermarket, pharmacy and train.

I'll come back after I've visited these towns.

I just realized, a bit slow here, that the map link gives me more options I can explore. Thank you!
