I was originally going to ask this question in the Texas forum, but the more I thought about it,I believe it was better to ask this here in this forum to get more of a national consensus as far as answers go.So,the thread title says it all.Do you or don't you?
There’s not much of Texas I’d consider the Deep South, except for the north east Texas area of Tyler-Lufkin-Nacodochws. I have to make this disclaimer since people seem to suppose if you don’t specify, you mean Deep South. But just about all of Texas is the south. Especially the triangle.

I even consider Lubbock and Odessa/Midland to be the South. The only part of Texas I don't consider to be the South is that El Paso area.
Do you consider San Antonio,TX part of "the South"?

Until I joined City-Data, I thought Texas as part of the Southwest or the South-Central. But then I found out that many people think of Texas as part of the South so my perception changed.
However, I still think San Antonio is pushing the term Southern pretty far. Seems far more Southwestern than say Southern like Georgia or Alabama.

San Antonio was part of the Chitlin Circuit.
It is at the edge of what I personally consider Southern, but there are pretty good arguments to be made that it is indeed the South.

why do you consider Lubbock and Midessa to be Southern.....just curious?I def think that there are cultural characteristics that are similar but the topopgraphy, climate and economies are different.I think Midland/Odessa is more Southwestern than Southern but thats hey just me.Lubbock reminds me more of the great plains than the South.
