Exciting is a dumb word. Being carjacked is exciting. Eating at a sidewalk cafe isn’t, regardless of how charming the street is.

That said, exciting is subjective. If someone finds Dallas more exciting than New Orleans, who are we to say they are wrong?

Minneapolis was extremely exciting this summer. We had some gigantic street parties, some bonfires too.

These are based on things I like. For example while New Orleans is far ahead of some of these in terms of excitement, I get excitement from enclaves, diversity, and which is unseen in NOLA. On the other hand, beaches and Latin culture are based, so Miami is number one easily in my eyes. Other than those, nightlife and food places for group settings give points.
There's a lot that comes to mind when one thinks of the Hampton Roads area... vibrant isn't typically one of them.

Downtown Norfolk and Ghent are vibrant, especially by southern standards and compared to metros of the same size. DOG Street in Williamsburg and the ocean front in the summer are about as vibrant as it gets (especially VA Beach, which is probably the most densely populated, and one of the most diverse, strip of sand along the east coast).

I perfectly well understand. Waiting in the long lines at Disney World is quite a mind numbing boring way to exist.

Too bad Orlando doesn’t consist of just amusement parks

New Orleans is definitely in the top five.

My personal top five are:

New York City
New Orleans
San Francisco
Nashville
Maybe Austin but it's a toss up - several cities could fit this bill.
I mean. I prefers Dallas than Austin

It does well as a typical mid-sized Sunbelt city minus the amusement parks.
