It gets you 3000 sqft, more or less, sometimes on an acre or so.
In town, maybe it comes with a view, and certainly in a nicer neighborhood.
150k gets you into the same neighborhood in a smaller house (by modern standards) that I would consider more sensible. 300k would almost be kind of lavish around here.
Where to live? What you're describing sounds great.
Everyone likes to talk about how crazy home prices have gotten in their metro, L.A. is one of the few where that really does seem like the case. You have completely normal, non-trendy areas where every home is literally a million dollar house these days.
Conversely, here is a very nice looking 2/2 963 square foot condo in Chula Vista, CA for $310K:
Here is a 1/1 613 square foot condo in a sub-coastal area of San Diego with views of the La Jolla hills and that should be perfectly positioned for the new Mid Coast trolley extension:
I never thought of going that high. My home's value went up past the 100K mark in a few years. 300K will buy a big house (2000+ sq ft) in the midrange Detroit suburbs, or a midsize house (1200 sq ft) in the wealthier burbs.
It does. I live in one, though my suburban neighborhood's price range is above $300K. Glad to be of assistance.
The metro area has about 225k in population. There are suburbs as well as a downtown core. You can buy anything or rent anything from a studio apartment to a garage apartment a loft to condos to single family homes ranging in age from about 120 years old to brand new, tiny to mansion sized, to apartments, to you name it.
There are also many bedroom communities, rather like Addison is a bedroom community of Dallas.
The cost of living is lower than in Dallas, but higher than in rural areas. About like any other mid sized city in just about any state.
In my imediate area pretty much everything under $300K is a 1br condo or mobile home. I thought there would be at least a few 2-br condos. This place is such a joke lol.
