Right there’s a lot of racial fear, colorism and confusion. Some Hispanics think checking “white” will be Beneficial too then somehow. Outside of some Tejanos and Cubans I’d bet 95% of Hispanics in the US are brown, mestizo, or black.
Makes sense.....unless we're talking about Austin's diversity. Most Hispanics in Austin are actually white people. It's the only Texas city that has that.

That can't actually be true
I went to Austin and I saw tons of North Mexican Mestizo looking Hispanics
Are you saying that an indigenous person from Guatemala, a black Cuban, and a white Spaniard all see themselves as the same race because they are all Hispanic?
Most are mestizo or triracial.
Hispanics overwhelmingly identify as Hispanic befoew anything else.
1. Thank you OP
2. Where's Austin?
3. Most Hispanics I know don't call themselves white.
Austin is on there. 43.9%.
Agreed on point three. All Hispanics I know who are actually white in skin color identity by their country or origin, not their race. They would be far more likely to identify as Hispanics than white. Black Hispanics are an exception though. That’s more a mix bag.

In my experience, Afro-Panamians (like Pop Smoke) tend to identify more with being black while mixed race Puerto Ricans and Dominicans identify primarily with being Latino.
It's actually not because you used Hispanic as one of the categories and 65% of Hispanics in the US identify as white.
Let me correct you real quick, the census identifies 65% of Hispanics as white. Most Hispanics are mixed race but the it would be harder to keep up with using this method.
