I see what you're trying to do here but "race" as a social construct, particularly in the US is so flawed it's difficult for me to see it used properly in such an exercise to prove a certain level of "diversity".
How can Hispanic be a race when you can be Hispanic and be black, white, Asian, or a combination of all?
And where do native Americans fit in.
I know of native Americans who do not like being lumped with Hispanic when they have zero Spanish / European heritage.
Just because Europeans considered the western and southwestern parts of The country as Mexico doesn't mean that all the native tribes in those areas can be lumped into this Hispanic category. My landlord in San Antonio for example was native American, no Spanish ancestry, but people would not only think she was Hispanic, they would also think she is Mexican.
Ok, but this is far from pointless. It’s only one piece of the puzzle, but it says a lot about racial diversity.
And yeah, Hispanic is a ethnicity but functionally it’s really both a race an an ethnicity. It’s fair game here.
So an Afro Colombian, a Chinese Dominican, an Italian Argentinian and an Indigenous Mexican are the same race?
Honestly it sounds to me like a lot of people in this thread have only had exposure to the mostly mestizo Mexican-American demographic in the Southwest and little else.

A Chinese Dominican would identify as East Asian as an Italian Chinese would identify as white.
