That list is pretty accurate. My friend in NYC is renting a studio for $4,500 a month in Greenwich Village.

Columbus will go up pretty drastically within the next 5 years. All the new condos downtown are quite expensive

Anyone see a correlation between the amount of space to sprawl and median rents? All of the top 10 cities are built out or have limited space to grow and the bottom 10 are very roomy.

I'm suprised by both Philly and Chicago's rankings. I thought Philly would be ranked lower and Chicago ranked higher.

Rent costs are only part of the story.
Utilities ie: cost of Heat/Air Conditioning and Water can really
add to those figures. Especially now with all energy prices set to
take off again.

That list is incomplete. Hartford and Providence should be on that list.

Wow, glad to see with all the new condos going into Ohio's cities, and seeing where we stand on these lists.

It should stay this way for awhile too, because there are new incentives they are giving out to bring people and attract them to downtown living. Many cities across the country should do this to stop urban sprawl and save the countryside.
