Best City for Young, Gay, Dark-Skinned Black Male (cliquey, neighborhoods)

Hi everyone, I was seeking advice on where to move to next. I grew up in rage suburbs of Chicago which was a terrible place for someone like me. I’ve always loved my skin color but people bothered me by the day about it. I had a thick skull so nothing truly ever got to me, but missed out on a lot of life growing up because I didn’t have a lot of people to be around. The worst thing I noticed about Chicago isn’t the racism but the colorism. Lighter skinned blacks put me through it the worst and dark skins favored light over dark. Terrible situation, right? I decided to move to Atlanta at age 22(I’m 25 now) and was pleasantly surprised at the treatment I received. I thought the whole world was like Chicago but in Atlanta I was able to walk around like a happy little white girl(lol). I didn’t think about my skin color once. I started to miss Chicago after nearly 3 years forgetting how it was and ended up moving back a year ago. Horrible decision. All my bad memories about the cities came back to light and I have to get out NOW! I’m definitely moving again next month (Feb ‘21) and my first selection is ATL. I wanted to ask the forum if they knew of any better options for someone in my situation. Please help, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
It sounds like maybe you were missing urban Chicago versus Atlanta's suburban feel. Rather than cycling back through that again consider a city with more a vertical/urban feel and less hang ups on skin color within the Black community. I would venture Philadelphia or even Baltimore would be better options for you.
It is racially integrated and quite affordable. I would highly recommend it.
Cities like Philadelphia, DC and NYC have a large Black Gay population. NYC is obviously quite expensive, as is DC, and they tend to be a bit more segregated than you would think, but nothing too noticeable (especially NYC).
Philadelphia might be your second best alternative, because it is more affordable than NYC and DC but the gay scene can be a bit cliquey.
I think Atlanta offers the best of both worlds for you.
Alternatives would be NYC, DC, PHL and maybe LA too.
Again though all will be more expensive than ATL.
My curve ball would be Houston. But I honestly know nothing about its gay scene. I just know it is a diverse city.
Any of the big cities in the Northeast would fit. There are very few people I’ve met there who are truly color-struck, though my knowledge of this within the gay community is limited. But at least among the gay men I’ve known, it seems absolutely not an issue. Obviously, Boston, New York, Philly, Baltimore, and DC, all have thriving LGBTQ communities, but they’re also all very different cities with many different neighborhoods. Good news — rents are falling now because of covid. Bad news — there’s a lot less stuff open than before. But I don’t know if that’s true in Atlanta.

Boston does not have a thriving or visible black ***** community for the most part. Less so a black gay male community. There’ssomerepresentation but it’s not like the other cities on the the east coast. Boston is buttoned up gay. The large immigrant black community isn’t so gay friendly. NYC is different in that respect because that’s always been a (black) gay Mecca.
This is yet another area Baltimore and Boston remind me of one another.
