Anybody know the state of downtown Milwaukee? I'll be going there at the end of May for my first big vacation in over a year. It'll be my first time to the Cream City. I'm assuming not as badly hit as Chicago, but if anyone has been there and knows it would be helpful. Will be fully vaccinated in a couple weeks with my second dose of Moderna yay!

Re: Seattle and Washington leaders....They've kept our death rate to about 45% of the national average despite us being the first outbreak. I'll take it!

PS, Downtown Seattle has been ramping up quite a bit. I was there for a haircut the other day and it felt almost semi-normal despite the offices being empty and hotels being around 40% full typically.

What is the median age of Seattle residents compared to the median age of the country at large?

Washington was 37.7 vs. the US at 38.2 in 2018 per Wikipedia. Most Covid policy is at the state level so that's most relevant, and of course we're talking state numbers.

King County (pop around 2.3m including Seattle) would be the second-most relevant level to Covid policy. Median age in 2018 was 36.9 per Seattle Times reporting of Census estimates.

Seattle's median age seems to be around 35 per various sources...lots of young adults but relatively few kids.

State population over 65 was about 14.6% in 2019 vs. closer to 16% nationally per the first article I found.

....so age seems to be a minor factor in Washington doing so well.

From what I've seen:

More Vibrant Than Before
Queens (LIC, Astoria, Flushing)

About the Same:
Bronx
Charlotte
Miami

Less Vibrant:
Brooklyn
Boston
Greensboro NC
Chicago
Washington DC

Significantly Less Vibrant
Manhattan

Charlotte is ALOT less vibrant....

I haven't been downtown in Milwaukee for a while, so can't say for sure. I will say, though, that along Lake Michigan (which is downtown), there will be a lot of activity. Also, the Third Ward in Milwaukee I would guess would be pretty lively. It's connected to downtown, just a couple blocks south.

You can't go to Milwaukee without going to these areas.

The River Walk downtown.

Third Ward (adjoins downtown)

The Public Market in the Third Ward...don't miss it.

Most struggling ones are the ones that already were struggling pre Covid.

I visited uptown quite few times before the pandemic and I'd never describe it as particularly hopping. Maybe Massachoicetts was in one of the neighborhoods?
