Yea it seems a good bit are that, but I'm surprised about Alabama, I was expecting all Huntsvilles. But nah it's actually multiple cities being chosen at relatively equal rates, which is pretty cool IMO.
I've been in or through more than 40 states, but I'll only state the places I know well.
CA: San Diego
CT: New Haven
FL: Miami Beach
MA: Boston
ME: Portland
MO: Springfield
NH: Portsmouth or Littleton
NJ: Somewhere in Hudson County
NY: New York City - One of the outer boroughs
OR: Portland
PA: Philly
RI: Newport
VT: Montpelier
WA: Seattle
Thank you for the suggestion. I wasn't too sure about Vermont, so I didn't include it.
I actually spent a year in Vermont and I lived in Burlington. It's a great city and as a 24 year old, I was the right age (maybe on the old side) to enjoy what the city had to offer. But now I'm 42 and I don't want to be around a bunch of college kids who are still developing their views on the world. Burlington is a stunningly beautiful city, but I'd rather be in a place with a little maturity.

CD clearly doesn't represent the general population very well and where most people actually move. Cleveland would be the fastest growing city in Ohio if we based it on this, instead of one still in decline.

Depends on where I happen to be in my life cycle. Different places if I was:
-- A young single
-- Raising a family
-- Commuting to a high-power job
-- Retired.

I’ll be 63 this month. My metrics are quite different from when I was 25 or 45. My resources are finite. I can’t say “La Jolla” or “Manhattan with a Central Park view” or “Aspen”. 1%er housing isn’t possible. I have to consider things like health care quality and access to services.
