Moving to Seattle. The detractors said: It rains 9 months of the year. Antifa and criminals are taking over the PNW.
Reality: hasn’t rained more than a few drops in two months, rains less than most cities out East by a significant amount. Pretty much had at least one sunny or partly sunny day every weekend even in the winter so far. Year round hiking. The neighborhoods are bustling with stores and restaurants. Tons of outdoor dining and amenities. Super walkable city. Safest major city I have lived in. My packages sit on the front door for a whole week when we were out on vacation and were still there when we got back and we live within 2 miles of downtown.
This was my experience as well. I love(d) Seattle and sort of regret leaving.
What didn't you like about living in Chicago? To me there's still a lot of good things in this city, but yes some things that I don't like about here like city government imposing too many quiet taxes and fees. I would bet if nothing else, that at least you liked the local food here? Which is more than just deep dish pizza, btw.
I don't totally disagree with you, but I'd much rather have that than the mostly college students and unambitious working class Mexican-American families like here in San Antonio. I miss the ethnic diversity, professional demographic, and overall energy of DC.
I sure did. There is a pervasive ignorance about North Dakota. It's been great, contrary to what people like to say.
