I would pick Iowa to be in Upper Midwest over lower Midwest. Honestly, I been in the Des Moines suburbs and it really feels and looks no different than Minnesota south/west of the cities. Similar trees (spruces and birches). The accents are flatter and less Scandiwegian though until you get closer to MN and WI and probably SD.

That dissipates quickly as you go south. By the time you get to say Waterloo, it's gone. Most of Iowa has that classic Midwest accent plainspokeness that you hear in Nebraska and Illinois too. Some real subtle tweaks that cement it. The easiest example for me is when you listen to a football game on the radio with an announcer from that part of the world, and how they pronounce "hashmark". The classic Midwesterner almost calls it a "hay-shmark".

Southern Iowa has a real similar accent to Missouri.
This video is NSFW (though very funny!) and the "rappers" are from West Dubuque. Notice the very Upper Midwestern accent in the woman in particular, which makes her rapping even funnier lol.

Right, I don’t deny that. As I mentioned, it’s a large state. But the third largest metro in the country is unequivocally in the Great Lakes region (and about 75% of the state’s population), which would easily make it in the Upper region, if you have to make a choice between the two.

I haven't been to Iowa, I'd assume it's similar to central parts of IL, IN, and OH and thus more like the lower (at least not upper) Midwest. The people I've met from there have accents similar to those areas rather than those nearly Canadian type accents in MN, N MI, WI, etc.

You realize that this entire video is fake, right? All of those people are actors. They're probably not in Iowa or even the Midwest at all. Also, there's no such city as "West Dubuque".

I know the video is fake. Its clearly satire. However, the creator of the video is actually from Iowa and I doubt the actors were flown in from LA to do fake Iowa accents.

Iowa is intermediate, but more Upper Midwest. Upper Midwest to me is MN, WI, and MI really, with maybe northern 2/3 of Iowa, eastern 2/3 of Dakotas, and eastern Nebraska thrown in. Lower Midwest is MO, IL south of Chicago metro, IN south of South Bend/Gary line, OH south of Toledo/Cleveland line, and I'd throw in KS too (southern MO is in fact the actual South though)

I'd say Lower. Minnesota is Upper Midwest (except maybe the area just south and north of I 90. Culturally Iowa seems so different from Minnesota. It's hard to explain but things like food and accent are prime examples.
