US homicide totals increased a record 30 percent in 2020:

US drug overdose deaths also increased a record 30 percent in 2020:

All indications suggest that both number will increase in 2021. How is your state faring in 2021? National stats are slower in getting released, but state numbers (especially for ODs) come out much sooner.

I did a thread similar to this in the Massachusetts forum, but you can see in my attachment the data I have for New England, NY and New Jersey shows that most states in that region saw some sort of increase.

However, Massachusetts and Maine saw no significant increase and NH saw a decrease in murders from 2019-2020.

For some reason I can't seem to upload the data I posted in the thread. I've tried to attach it but it's not working.

I think your comment certainly applies to MA, ME and NH, but CT, RI and VT saw increases. Same with NJ and NY.

That being said, all states in New England, as well as NJ and NY were below the national average by a significant margin.

Washington state set an all-time record for murders in 2020 at 302. WA also set an all-time record for overdose deaths in 2020 at 1,724.

From the looks of it, both numbers will be higher in 2021 :-(

I mean vt can have like 3 more murders and see a 50% increase
