The article says the source is Google Trends, also, the fact that Detroit has the most independent pizzerias per capita.

If Connecticut, lead by New Haven is not ranked #1 then this ranking is meaningless. Don't read too much into it. I've seen Great Lakes beaches rank above California beaches in best beach rankings. Your link is also broken btw.

Yeah, totally agree. Sally's apizza is the best I've ever had, in New Haven.

Here are the top 15 cities for pizza, according to this poll:

Detroit
Cleveland
Columbus
Boston
Pittsburgh
Indianapolis
Providence
St. Louis
Philadelphia
Norfolk
Baltimore
Tampa
Minneapolis
Chicago
Nashville

When Indianapolis, Norfolk and Tampa all have supposedly better pizza than NYC, the studies' tasters are super out of wack. LOL

There are lots of ex-New Yorkers in Tampa, they actually do have good pizza there!

NYC has a lot of pizza, but the local style isn't very good. Sorry. I want more toppings and better toppings, or at least one of the two.

Umm I’m from Norfolk. People there think Papa Johns is good pizza.

Ngl nyc has some terrible pizza. Manhattan pizza is god awful. Brooklyn and Staten Island have good slices. But overall it is very mid.

Jersey and CT TRUMP nyc. Even LI

Again pizza that is .99 is .99 for a reason

Even though some individual rankings are head scratchers I do think that the best pizza in the country is generally in the Northeast and Great Lakes regions, so in a rough sense it seems fairly accurate to me, as those two regions are well represented.

Ah, really? Well I suppose if there are several solid pizza spots in Tampa, that's enough to send them over the edge into "great pizza" territory.

NYC has SO many places for pizza, it is overkill, truly.

You have to wonder what specific pizza joints they’re basing their votes off of. It’s very easy to find bad pizza in NY, Chicago, etc even if generally they’re known for their pizza.
