1. Excellant weather - not hot in summer, not cold in winter, not much rain
2. Near the oceans and mountains and forest
3. Cost of living reasonable
4. Nice friendly people
5. Good traffic - not these clogged roads and freeways
6. Plentiful jobs - you walk into a place and you're quickly hired
7. Liberal attitudes
8. Excellant public transportation
9. Near family
10. Low crime - you dont have to fear when you driving or walking
I pretty much would have the same list. Except for #7 Liberal attitudes, it depends how liberal. I don't want SF Bay Area liberal but I don't want Orange County Conservative either, I like San Diego's moderate politics although I do wish it was slightly more liberal, especially North County.
SD for me at least fits most of those categories except for #3 and #8 of course. It has plentiful jobs, just not maybe the one someone wants. And my family is in Northern CA, if they were down here I would love this place even more. There are liberal attitudes, just not so much in North County. There is traffic, but it depends on where you live and work and to me it's better than where I grew up.
1. Good weather (minimal snow in winter, mild summers)
2. Clean air
3. Mid-sized city (with amenities, but I can still breathe!)
4. Free concerts in the summer, etc.
5. Good public transportation (with the price of gas going up exponentially, this is a must!)
6. Reasonably priced housing
7. Good civic leadership
8. Moderate politics (more on the liberal side)
9. Tolerant people
10. Wages in line with cost of living (what a pipe dream!)
11. Low crime/no tagging
Weather would be important. Mild weather without too much snow and heat. Friendly people would be nice. Some people around my own age group so I have someone to talk to about the good old days. Reasonably priced housing is a must. I like the forrest and having some water nearby. It could be a lake, river,or the ocean. No smog and not too crowded is good. I'd like a small town. I want it to be safe as well so I can walk around town.I want to be in the western part of the U.S.A.
If I ever had the money, I would move to either Sanibel or Captiva Fl and yes I would gladly face the threat of hurricane in exchange for the wonderful weather.
Weather is incredibly important to me.
I HAVE to be close to the ocean, right now I am 45 minutes away and would prefer to be closer.
I don't care for loud and rowdy anything so a place like Sanibel and Captiva is just my speed.
Nice weather: warm, mostly in the 80s
intelligent and very liberal people,
lots of water and mountains around,
quick access to the ocean,
the mountains should have great skiing/snowboarding,
lively downtown,
great arts and museums,
an airport from which you could fly direct to places,
low crime,
few, if any, nasty insects,
plants and trees to which I'm not allergic,
affordable
