For urban, tops on my list are the Canopy Roads in Tallahassee. 78 miles of streets where the moss-draped live oaks form a shady tunnel where their branches meet overhead.
There is a stretch of road right along the Gulf of Mexico in Pass Christian that was pretty cool old plantation style houses on one side of the road, and sandy beach on the other.
I really liked Captiva/Sanibel island in Florida too. The Keys were pretty nice as well.
The North Georgia mountains (Dahlonega, etc) were a favorite retreat of mine while I lived in Atlanta
Glenwood Canyon in Colorado was really nice. So was Tennessee Pass near Vail Colorado
Lived near Oakland California for several years, and the entire Bay area is a sightseers paradise
Pacific Coast Highway between Santa Cruz and Point Lucia in California...with special emphasis on Point Lucia
Laguna Beach California...I think that must be where about 90% of the "fun and sun" postcard pictures are taken
And, if you were to draw a line from Sacramento Ca to Reno Nv...about half way along that line. in the general area of Grass Valley...there is just something enchanting about that area.
