As per the title, what’s the most scenic place you’ve visited?
For the purposes of this thread, let’s stick to:
1. Places you’ve actually visited in person.
2. US only (sorry Canada/Mexico)
3. Try to be specific. For example, don’t say New York City, rather say the view from the Empire State Building.
From an overlook west of Salem OR, late afternoon. light rain all day with leaden skies. Mount Hood, all alone, snow-covered, 100 miles away, the only thing sunlit, glittering brilliant gold-orange in the gray landscape.
Sandhills, Nebraska, emerald green in spring, rolling grassy hills going on and on, with not a single tree or bush or fencepost, from horizon to horizon.
Any of North Dakota's thousands pothole lakes, smaller than a football field, a micro-marsh habitat, cat-tails and small trees, a-quack with ducks and marshbirds, hopping with amphibians.
in no particular order and agree with others...so many, can't list them all here...
the Grand Canyon
the view along Highway 1 (the Pacific Coast Highway) in CA
Blue Ridge Parkway
many individual small highways in VT during the fall foliage season
Lake Tahoe (CA)
the Gore Range (CO) viewed from the town of Vail - 12K ft
the Grand Tetons
Yellowstone National Park
Pina Beach (Panama)
the Sacred Blue Cenote (Chichen Itza, Mexico)
A little different twist but I just love the Rainer Walk on the University of Washington campus and the view of Mt. Rainier on the rare sunny day. You have the green and water of Seattle and the clear view of the Mountain that has the highest prominence of any in the lower 48. And at the right time of the year you get the cherry blossoms as well.
