Where were you when the Bloods and the Crips moved in from LA in the 80's? Just because you didn't see them didn't mean they weren't there. Can related killings, while not numerous have esclated this summer with new ones having been created. Most in Holiday Park.

New Orleans has a ton of crime and is often ranked in the top 10 in crime. It will have more then 1 gang.

New Orleans has a lot of murders but for overall crime it does not rank close to the top 10. New Orleans actually does not really have gangs (or at least stereotypical/traditional gangs). There are small groups of like 5-10 people who for example grew up on the same block or are related to each other but that is about it. They are not well organized.

You can be well assured, any town or city having a drug trade is gang infested. For sure! If there is one dominant gang your town will be relatively free of violent crime. If there are two or more competing gangs, violence escalates.

So if your town is drug free, you have no gangs. I don't think there is a drug free town or city of any size.
