Really? Like how? Unless it's involving some street gang activity the tension is very very minimal. And even minimal is a stretch when we're talking about Afro Latinos and African Americans especially in the Northeast.

There’s friction with every race in this country unfortunately , however, the Latino-black relationship is the “healthiest” of all minority groups.
I avoided Latinos that identified as “white” and rocked “Latinos for Trump” or MAGA apparel… r. Same with Dominicans that deny their blackness even though they’re blacker than me.
Other than those two small niches I get along very well with Latinos/Afro Latinos.
From what I can tell, it depends a lot on ethnicity. In Boston, Dominicans and Puerto Ricans are very prevalent in traditionally blacker parts of the city like Dorchester, Roxbury, Hyde Park, and Roslindale.
However, the Salvadorans, Colombians, and Guatemalans settled in East Boston, which is an old Italian neighborhood that has very few black residents.
In New York at least, plenty of Mexicans and Central Americans live in the same neighborhoods as black people. Caribbean and non-Caribbean Hispanics live in the same neighborhoods here for the most part.

That's not entirely true, there are quite a few Ecuadorians, Peruvians, and Colombians living around black people in places like the South Bronx, Bushwick, North Jersey, Long Island, etc.
Or maybe it is the other way around. Maybe the blacks are more tolerant of the Hispanics and the Hispanics have a smaller chance of being mugged or murdered just because of their race than the whites do if they go into a black neighborhood. Or maybe it is just the perception of the same.
However, I suspect that it is mostly because the rent is cheaper and the Hispanics are going to where they can afford the rent,
Well I do think Hispanics that move into black neighborhoods are welcomed more, since they're not viewed as gentrifiers.
