St. Louis pleasantly surprised me when we vacationed there in 2019. We stayed at an AirBNB in Benton Park and explored most of the city south of Delmar. We went to the art museum, the botanical garden, Forest Park, Soulard, Downtown (which was "meh" besides the Gateway Arch), Lafayette Square, South Grand, Tower Grove Park (and surrounding neighborhoods), Delmar Loop, and the Central West End. We found traffic very manageable, and the people were generally friendly and curious about us as tourists. We felt very safe (albeit we heeded advice to stay south of Delmar).

There are about companies there and plenty of shopping down Route 31. https://www.google.com/maps/@43.1853...7i16384!8i8192

Timber Banks and Village Green are similar communities in that area/school district(Baldwinsville, NW of Syracuse). https://timberbanks.com/

and another one in the East Syracuse area/town of Manlius not too far from the Fayetteville shopping center above: Erie Village Homeowners Association

This community is near Syracuse University and would be great for those that want to attend events there. There is also a park across the street. there are also business districts not too far away as well: Home

I was born and raised in St. Louis but moved away in 1976. I go back every couple of years, to visit friends and relatives but not as a tourist. My brother lives in Benton Park. You saw a lot of what the city has to offer. One thing about St. Louis today is that it was once much bigger and has an infrastructure for twice the population, so it is very easy to navigate. My last visit was in April, and we stayed in an Airbnb on Pershing near Forest Park and Washington University. We drove all over the city and never got on an interstate except to go out to St. Charles one day. We approached the city as tourists for the first time and had a great experience. I always go to the Missouri Botanical Gardens -- it is practically a required pilgrimage. The "new" Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis on Lindell is stunning. Forest Park is the best urban park in the US, site of the 1904 World's Fair and home to the Art Museum and History Museum. I took the AB Brewery tour for the first time -- yikes, that is a lot of beer. The CWE neighborhood is enjoyable, as is the Delmar Loop. The northern part of the city is in transition -- but I'm not sure which direction. There is some new development there.
