-Four distinct seasons
Background:
-Rain makes me ache and run fevers

-Autoimmune issues are better in drier climates and higher elevations
-Food diversity makes me happy
-I do not want to feel isolated by geography or unfriendly people
I miss the green (so many trees and plants and waterways!) and friendlier atmosphere of east TN, but my physical health is better in the high desert. I just don’t like how brown and flat it is, and how far I have to drive to enjoy amenities. I’d like to find a middle ground that has all the things I love without pain and social/cultural isolation.
I know… it’s a lot to ask. I just need to find a place I can feel at home and not be sick/disabled all the time. Help?

Albuquerque would be a possible choice or Rio Rancho (an adjacent city of 100k). Albuquerque has most of what you want on your list. It is a few feet higher than Denver and has a Goldilocks 4-season high desert climate. Public schools are good in RR and there is less crime. With the Sandia Mountains, Rio Grande, foothill trails, and desert wilderness areas there is plenty of outdoor recreation. There is plenty of diversity, interesting cookery, and cultural opportunities. Santa Fe is less than an hour away and there is a commuter train between cities. It is a unique part of the country.
