Are there any cities in the US where people still throw semi-frequent cocktail/dinner parties where people get all dressed up? Is this a popular thing anymore?

One doesn't suggest the other. People throw parties everywhere. But dressing up, even pre-Covid?

My former employer has holiday parties where most guys wore suit jackets.

But socially, a relatively new pair of Levis and a decent golf shirt is good for most parties, at least on the West Coast.

It's still a thing in the Northeast Corridor (roughly DC to Boston) in the established more well-to-do areas.
