Nah. NYC and North Jersey are very hilly with several smaller mountain ranges nearby like the Ramapos and Taconics (both sub-ranges of the Appalachians). Furthermore Philly has nothing like the cliffs of the Palisades which run through Northern NJ and into Southeastern NY. These dramatic landscapes provide amazing views of NYC from all angles and all kinds of nature/outdoor activities within earshot of Manhattan.

Philly and South Jersey are much flatter, especially South Jersey.

Not true in the least. The Piedmont region runs through the PA 'burbs, so much of the region is very much characterized by rolling hills (as is the vast majority of PA). The fall line hits once you're southeast of the Wissahickon Valley (in NW Philly).

How the Fall Line Shaped Colonial Settlement in Virginia

South Jersey is definitely part of the coastal plain, but that's also true of Long Island. The Palisades are a very small part of the land area of metro NYC. Most of the NY And Jersey 'burbs are very similar topographically to the Delaware Valley.

Yeah I meant to separate Philly from South Jersey just didn't have time and clicked send too quick. The PA side definitely hilly similar to North Jersey, NYC and Hudson Valley. South Jersey and Long Island very similarly flat.
