I am looking for a city that is conducive to starting an internet business. I would like to be around people who are entrepreneurial in spirit. It won't be a huge venture where I will need venture capital, but I would like the attitude of the city to be positive. A walkable city with free wifi coffee shops, some nightlife, and a young, educated, liberal population are what I am looking for. I would also like nice weather so I can spend a lot of time outdoors. I know there is no perfect city, but do you have any suggestions? Thanks.

Minneapolis (and Saint Paul) have large, highly-educated workforces. Public education is highly stressed here, and it is reflected by the strength of graduates and workers here. The cities are very liberal, vibrant and growing. Weather is subjective, people here spend more time outdoors than (debateably) anywhere in the country. Winter hardly keeps you indoors. There is nightlife, but it isn't South Beach. We have more Fortune 500 companies than all but three other cities, so there must be some entrepreneurial spirit here. Most of the core is walkable, transit in the Cities is sufficient to get you most places. Lastly, you aren't stuck with the prices of Boston, San Francisco or Seattle.

I'm leaning towards hip, young cities that rail against the norm, such as Austin, Columbus, Seattle, and San Fran.

From the standpoint of finding people to listen to you and invest in your ideas, San Jose by far.

Omaha - lots of economic development opportunities, tons/tons/tons of venture capital available, wide variety of industries, growing urban scene in downtown, internationally know indie music base.... and just plain nice people

Id look into Tempe, AZ or maybe even Scottsdale, sounds like it might suit you (if you can handle the extreme summer heat).
