What kind of businesses are over saturated and way too numerous in your area?
In the NYC metro, we have too many Pizzerias everywhere especially in Manhattan. Its just dough with cheese, and tomatoes. I guess it is cheap but there is still point where too many are serving. There is one pizzeria every block, and another across the street sometimes. Its ridiculous.
There is also too many bodegas/corner shops, or convenience stores. There is too much overlap in product placement with supermarkets, and pharmacies. The shops I am talking about only offer more craft beer selection, and gambling in the form of the Lotto. There is one everywhere.
Chinese takeout is another one. They are everywhere. They all sell the same cheap junk food.
I dont know who these businesses are able to survive. Something fishy must be happening behind the scenes.
I grew up in North Jersey, too many pizzerias everywhere for sure and you do not know which one is even good unless you are local and eat at those pizzerias often.
Too many Dunkin' Donuts everywhere in NJ especially in my small 8 square mile hometown and it is not too noticeable since Dunkins can be located in gas station stores.
Not sure if this applies to all of the US, but too many of the small dinky NJ strip malls consist of the same formula: Cheap Chinese takeout place, a pizzeria, and a nail salon.
I now live in the Bay Area, there are too many strip malls that contain the same formula of a nail salon, pool store, and tutoring center.
Too many McDonald's in the Bay Area despite all the mom and pop burger places that exist out here.
The Bay Area off the top of my head:
Upscale salad restaurants(I just don't get the appeal)
Starbucks
Asian and Mexican grocery stores
Chinese restaurants
Indian restaurants
Mexican restaurants
Massage Parlors(shadyasses think we dont know)
Nail Salons
Fitness Places/Gyms
Shared work spaces
EV charging stations
Banks -- you can't throw a rock without breaking out a bank window.
Yep. Banks for Pittsburgh as well. As a Millennial I almost never utilize a physical bank branch. With that being said I think we have so many branches here because we have a large elderly population that, for whatever reason, thinks they need to do their banking in person.

I am not elderly but I do occasionally actually go into a physical bank.
Pizza Hut is making a comeback in NYC after a decade if not more away. They opened one about two stores down from a Dominoes but on next block over is a Pizza/wing/burger joint, and across the street is another one. And remember this is Manhattan, so it's all walking distance.

Why anyone in the NY area would eat that slop is beyond me when you have endless amazing pizza options. I only ate at those places when I had no choice living out of the area. Last resort.

That's genuinely surprising considering some of those dollar slice joints (specifically the one on 42nd & 9th) are some of the best pizza I've ever had lol.
