Carmel Indiana(fancy suburb) = Carmel CA?
Edit: Carmel Indiana was founded in the 1800s. Yeah, it likely has no relation to the famous boutique town in CA
There are about ten states with a town named California.
Pasadena (TX, east of Houston, and CA)
South Pasadena (FL, near St.Pete, and CA)
Hollywood (FL, near Miami, and CA)
Beverly Hills (FL, north of Tampa, and CA)
Paradise (TX, northwest of Fort Worth, and CA)
There was, is?, a Pasadena in New Jersey.
"In 1883, the remaining officers of the Wheatland Manufacturing Company decided to change the mission of the company from terra cotta manufacture to real estate development. A development was drawn up and registered with the county clerk; it was named ‘Pasadena.’ At first, lot sales were high, but soon turned for the worse. In fact, the Pasadena development failed utterly by 1915 without a single house ever having been built."
There is also a Beverly Hills, Michigan in the Detroit suburbs with about 10K population. Like the California city it is a very affluent community. But the Florida location in Citrus County is more of a modest income exurban retirement area.
Not a city nor town but just a village. Spokane, Louisiana in Concordia Parish (county) La. Nearby is a Monterey, La. I don't know who Monterey was named for, but I'm pretty sure Spokane La was named for Spokane Wa. I know of no other place named that.
Spokane, MO is also named after Spokane Wa.
