I came across this in my daily newsletter from Glenn Beck's tv program.
It's an online petition, started by Newt Gingrich, that hopefully will help the pinheads in Washington realize that you want to drill for oil in the USA. Our shale oil reserves in the Rocky Mountains are three times the size of Saudi Arabia and they are currently illegal because congress passed a law saying you couldn't get at them. It is also illegal to look in the Atlantic, in the eastern Gulf of Mexico, in the Pacific, and in northern Alaska.

Oil shale is still way to expensive to process, it would make gas prices even higher. Plus, have you ever seen the sight of an oil line break? So no thanks, bub
There's less than 2 years worth of oil in Alaska's ANWR at the enormous rate of consumption of oil in the U.S. if we relied on it instead of imports. This is grasping at straws, and denial of the real problem...
It would still just be put on the commodity market and sold to the highest bidder. We don't have socialist/communist government and state owned oil companies in the United States.
We have been dependant on oil for way too long now and we are paying the consequences. Drilling for more oil isn't going to solve the problem, it's only going to put a bandaid on it.

Gas cost the EXACT SAME AMOUNT now as in 1960 per Gold ounce (250 gallons per ounce of Gold).
The problem is inflation, The dollar used to be backed by Gold, now it's just a worthless piece of paper
