Sounds like it's time for this thread to be moved to the Nebraska forum. Or at least someone is ought to rename the thread: "Omaha - the city with the brightest future".

Default Omaha memories

When I was a kid, some sci-fi story I read used Omaha as the reference point back on Earth. It was the first time I had ever heard of it and it's always had a futuristic connotation for me. Beat that!

Hmmmm, getting dead around here. Ok, here's a bright future for you: What city will host Anthracon for the "foreseeable future"? Give up? Look it up! That's right, the world's largest "furry" convention. Take that, Omaha! You couldn't pay me to go downtown this weekend.

I'm gonna actually say Detroit. Obviously the city has ways to go before its next New York but its improving its downtown, and new riverfront. Detroit has all the potential in the world, located on by a great lake, almost a million residents, it just needs to shed its "muder capital" image.

I see a greater future for Albuquerque or Rio Rancho they both have already begun too see the great future ahead (lots of growth), i have seen albuquerque turn from nothing to something, those two are growing non-stop, and housing market is still doin excellent down here despite how bad the housing market is in the rest of the country.

I have to say, St. Louis has gotten a lot better over the years, especially downtown.

It has a long way to go, though.

By the way, I cringe everytime I hear, well, I can't even say it, O-m-a-h-a.
I've had enough of O-m-a-h-a

Every thread the answer seems to be O-m-a-h-a.

I'm sure it's a great city.

I've had enough of it.
