YOU LEFT OUT HOUSTON!!!!!! It's like the most bashed city on this forum.
Amen!!!
The second largest museum district in the U.S. Only surpassed by NYC in terms of Fortune 500 companies. Incredible generosity given (not loaned, given) to Katrina evacuees from New Orleans. What terrible things that make Houston a crap town, geez.
I haven't seen much bashing on Saint Louis or Indianapolis? They aren't in the spotlight, but I never see anyone putting them down.
I have seen a good deal of Houston-bashing though, so people can feel free to add it to their lists (I can't put it on the original list, sorry - it's past the time limit).
I find LA's inclusion interesting because, while being one of the most bashed, it's also one of the most promoted. It's kind of a city that you either have to love or hate. This is different from what seems to be the point of the thread: To identify positive aspects from cities that you might not expect to like. I think the positives of LA are well documented and accounted for already, while say Detroit's are not.
Phoenix has beautiful saguaro cactus throughout the city and great winter weather.
Detroit has some great early 20th century architecture in downtown
Gary Indiana has an important steel plant and is near the Indiana Sand Dunes on Lake Michigan.
True, but that doesnt make those cities good. I think its hilarious that people on these forums will tell you "its great here! We have palm trees, beautiful sunsets, etc, etc". Yeah, so does Baghdad, Iraq.
Location: from houstoner to bostoner to new yorker to new jerseyite ;)
