New York City has some rude people; I've dealt with them when I worked as a travel agent at Sun Country. Many people from the east coast thought they were being funny when they were being rude (New Jersey, Boston, Maryland, Vermont, CT). And as far as the rich being less rude than poor I do not agree with it. I've met many well-off people who were rude or impatient.

That would be the Neuvo Riche. They exist everywhere. Most of the rude people in Connecticut are transplants from other areas of the country.

You'll get a kick out of this. A guy I know from Tennessee calls the people in New York City the "salt of the earth". No kidding. I guess his experiences there over the years differ greatly from yours.

Why would a guy in Tennessee worship New York people so much?

From what I can gather he's always been treated well when visiting the Tri State area. I have to admit I've never really encountered any truly rude people during my visits to the NYC metro area either. And being from Connecticut I spent a fair amount of time in the city and some of its suburbs.
