the Spire is more appealing to the eye, but the Freedom tower means so much to me as a NYer and what it signifies.

I think the Freedom Tower is just very bland (am I the only one that thinks this?). I'm not saying this as a Chicagoan (if anybody reads my post, they know I'm pretty unbiased) but as a fan of all things architecture related. The Freedom Tower's only standout feature is its height. Its just a very tall box basically.

I would've liked to have seen a very dynamic and cutting edge design for a tower that means so much.

By the way, I think the tower in Philly is very appealling and cutting edge. If you threw it in the mix I might have to throw a vote in for it.

They dumped the name "Freedom Tower" years ago, people. It is One World Trade Center.

Then again, this thread is pretty old...

Plus, the Chicago Spire project is dead and 1 WTC is finally going full steam upward.

Your entitled to your opinion that's fine, but Chicago is where the skyscraper was first born.

Currently, the Freedom Tower in New York is around 1,000 feet. Has anyone heard updates on the Chicago Spire? Is the Spire going to be built?
