I fell in love with Minneapolis while taking a UMN parents trolley tour... from downtown to uptown and the lake neighborhoods... gorgeous. I look forward to travelling there more over the next 4 years.

I'd rather look at the bikinis on the North Avenue Beach than some distant mountains, so my vote for most beautiful city goes to Chicago in the summertime

The reason I give SLC the nudge is because it's also a very clean city. There are no slums in SLC and very few public housing projects. There aren't many homeless, there are very few empty buildings (I honestly can't remember seeing any), the streets are clean, and there seems to be a lot more pride in the appearance of the city than in most other places.
You took the words right out of my mouth. Well said!

May I also add as close runners up, that I personally find beautiful: San Diego, Seattle, Boulder (the flatirons and parks in that area are picture perfect), and each of their respective metros. Of course, each city in the nation is unique and beautiful in it's own way. What I love knowing is that what I find beautiful, is not always what the next guy finds beautiful. We are so blessed to live in a nation where so much national beauty is found.

By the way, if you are ever on I-80 southbound, between Evanston WY, and SLC, and notice a white VW that it either going far to slow, or not staying in its own lane, it is more than likely ME, and I am just again in amazement at the beauty within that area, and can't keep my eyes on the road. STUNNING!!!! People that live around Park City, Utah, have no idea what they really have. Ahhhh.....

I'd say cities can be beautiful for many reasons. The above cities have nice waterfronts (well, except DC and it has the Potomac).

San Fran can be beautiful with the golden gate bridge, the unique combination of the crooked streets and cable carts, and the bay
