I realize this may be moved because it has nothing to do with Knoxville, but many people who want to move to this area want to find the "best place to live" and this article may be an eye-opener. No TN counties made the list. I am surprised at some of the areas that did, including the county I grew up in.

America's Best Places to Raise a Family - Yahoo! Real Estate (http://promo.realestate.yahoo.com/americas-best-places-to-raise-a-family.html - broken link)

Ah looks like you turned out alright NJDevil.

The article I see might be based on K-12 education though, such as SAT scores, per capita spending, etc. I don't think there's a way to measure in numbers respect, self-confidence and manners. I feel a kid can learn character anywhere he/she goes but the later, East Tennessee and Upstate South Carolina are exceptional places for.

St. Louis, Mo, Baltimore, Md., and Houston, Texas. Aren't these cities riddle with crime?

As I've said on similar threads, best places lists are sort of a cop out.

No place is the best place for everyone, and every place is a best place for someone.

It's impossible to standardize it.

This ranking especially uses ridiculous standards that don't even make sense.
