Not sure I understand your post. Are you referring to a certain school district where one cannot transfer to another school in the district because of sports? That may be true in Illinois but it wouldn't apply in my situation.
I just remember seeing or hearing something about changing schools for sports not being illegal but just something they didn't allow.
So is the cost of living and high taxes as I understand it.
Not sure if you were telling me or asking me, but if you were asking then the cost of living is in Chicago/ Cook County is higher than the surrounding counties. Chicago as a whole is a cheaper alternative than say NYC or LA. What Chicago offers more than any other city besides NYC is the ability to travel the city and surrounding burbs without a car... via public transportation.

That's the dumbest urban legend I have ever heard. Gov't going to start telling people where they can uproot their families and move to a different state because of High School sports? Really think about that, makes no sense and ZERO way of enforcing it even if they tried.
Maybe switching schools within a district, without moving your household as well. But that situation has nothing to do with what the OP is looking at.

That's very true.
I would like to add as a side note: some school districts DO allow you to pick and choose your schools, meaning you don't have to go to the school in your neighborhood if you don't want to. (I've always thought that being forced to attend the school the government assigns to you is pretty Communist.)
The OP might want to look at Putnam County, Tennessee, which has 3 high schools. Your kids can attend any of those schools no matter where you live in the county as long as you provide the transportation. Same goes for their elementary and middle schools. And they loooove women's basketball there, being half-way between Vanderbilt and U of Tennessee, both powerhouses in women's basketball.

Thanks for your info. Looks like Tenn., Mo. and the Tulsa area may be what we are looking for. As a matter of fact there were five Tenn. teams, 3 Mo. teams and 2 Okla. teams in the 11yr old National AAU Tournament that we attended last week. That's 20% of the total teams present(52). I'll have to look further into these areas for home rental costs, taxes, cost of living etc. Thanks again.
Hi I was looking up the same thing for my daughter who will be 13 feb. 16 and I was wondering what you found for your daughter you sound so much like myself. thanks Terry
