In my opinion they have at the same time many things in common and many differences : i know these two places quite well because when I was a child I used to spend my summer holidays in Naples FL and now I always spend about two weeks in Los Angeles every summer because my girlfriend comes from there. The main difference i could notice ,a part for geographical ones that you've already mentioned ,considering my experience, is that southern FL is more focused on the tourism than SoCa , It doesn't mean that SoFl is less developed than SoCa. All in all SoFl is such a tropical paradise in the US where you can have nice and relaxed life
