I got the following info from msnbc. All of these metropolitan areas also ranked on the top 10 of AIDS rates in the country.

Miami - 41.9
Baltimore - 37.7
Washington, D.C. - 31.8
Baton Rouge, LA - 30.1
Columbia, SC - 28.0
Memphis - 27.1
New Orleans - 26.4
Orlando - 26.4
Jacksonville - 24.6

I knew Miami had a high AIDS rate, but not that high.

Seems the Midwest has the least number of cases.

Gosh. I didn't know that Miami had such a high AIDS rate.

Least in the Midwest, makes sense.

The cities have detiorated beyond repair, and the young move south or west. I don't think there are many young single people in the Midwest, and the ones who are there, there are few places to meet others who are.

Unsure, but there is a large Caribbean population, as well as a significant black population, and much of the population is transient.

The correction should be: "Report warns of Southern Blacks AIDS crisis".

Political correctness in the media tends to not tell the true story.

Why do you not see Johnson City, Tennessee, Knoxville, Tennessee, Nashville, Tennessee, etc.? I mean, they're in the South. Most likely because they have much lower black populations, percentage-wise.

To those who doubt the validity of what I'm saying, here are some links that indicate the differences in the AIDS rate among whites and blacks in the U.S.

"The rates of new infections in heterosexual men were lower, but still showed a very large disparity with other races: 35.5 per 100,000 blacks, compared to 1.1 for whites, 10.9 for Hispanics and 2.3 for Asians/Pacific Islanders".

It has the fewest numbers of blacks and "Hispanics", the two groups that have the highest AIDS rate.

It has nothing to do with that, but rather the lower percentages of blacks and Hispanics, collectively, in the midwest compared to the South, Northeast, and West.

Why do people make up such hypotheses that are "reaching" when the truth is right under their noses?

Very very true. The HIV/AIDS crisis has hit those communities very very hard. I also wonder if any of these areas have school districts where they don't teach sex ed to students.
