Chicago is getting all kinds of good press lately, since much of "Dark Knight" was filmed there, and people were surprised to hear that it was not Manhattan.
....... and yet, ALL of those cities are more well known then Fort Worth. And each one of them has at least one sports team. WHAT'S UP WITH THAT !?!?!?
The point is anyway, population doesn't make your city more popular. It's something more......
Fort Worth is part of the Dallas-Forth Worth Metropolitan area, often referred to as the Metroplex.
Secondly, people have got to stop viewing city proper populations like they mean anything. They don't. Some cities have large populations because their city limits extend far from downtown and encompass many suburban areas. Others may have small populations because they have a very small area, square mileage wise, located within the city limits. What matters is the metropolitan area population or the urban area population, as they are more representative of the population of the entire built-up area, not just the small central city, arbitrarily-drawn city limits.
