How is horse racing irrelevant? The 6 week horse racing season where I live is huge at the Del Mar Race Track, which is one of the nicest horse racetracks in the country and the nicest in CA. It's attracts tens of thousands of people everyday and is a big summer event in San Diego. It may not be big where you are but other parts of this country have nice racetracks and it's definitely not irrelevant or dead.
We used to love going to Del Mar
When I was a kid, my mom was really into horse racing and she'd take me down to Caliente with her, where I'd even get to place bets...I know it sounds horrible now, all seedy hanging at the track, lol, but really it was fun!
my husband's company is a nascar sponsor and we go to the races and get to go in the pits. Last race, we saw tony stewart and he autographed my daughters jersey, not without pitching a tony stewart type fit :d
my dd was so annoyed with his attitude she wanted to just toss the jersey in the trash, lol.
Yeah, that's what I've heard, and he was kinda being a diva that day,lol...although in his defense, he had just gotten out of an interview and was really mad at Goodyear, but his "diva-ness" made the whole thing all the more memorable lol

I am getting Off topic but some people I was suprised were "diva" were the Kratt brothers who at the time had the PBS show Zaboomafoo. They did an appearance at the Louisville Zoo where I worked and they were very, very demanding for what they did. It was kinda funny now that I think about it!
