west university is a beautiful neighborhood next to rice university in houston.
that's it for houston. the other universities in town are surrounded by slums or hipster lofts.

Milwaukee: the Upper East Side and suburban Shorewood surrounding UW-Milwaukee. Also, the neighborhood adjacent to Mount Mary College

St. Paul: the neighborhoods adjacent to Macalester College and the U of St. Thomas

Providence: It's been said already, but the College Hill and whole East Side surrounding Brown U is gorgeous

Buffalo: the Elmwood Village area and Delaware Park areas next to Buffalo State College. Also, University Heights adjacent to the Main Street Campus of U at Buffalo

Columbus: Upper Arlington to the west of Ohio State U; Clintonville to the north.

Birmingham: the Five Points and Highlands neighborhoods next to UA-Birmingham. Also, the neighborhood around Samford University, in the burbs

University City, MO: the neighborhood surrounding Washington University

Berkeley: the hilly neighborhood to the north of UC-Berkeley, and the Rockridge section (extending into Oakland) to the southeast.

Palo Alto: the "Professorville" neighborhood next to Stanford. Also, the part of Menlo Park to the north of campus

La Jolla: the area surrounding UC-San Diego

Eastmoreland/Woodstock is a picturesque (and pricey) residential neighborhood around Reed College in SE Portland. Sorry, I couldn't find any pictures on google.
